Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 18, 2026
1. Who we are
mynextaddress.ca (the "Site") is a free Canadian property valuation tool ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Site, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for residents of Québec, Québec's Law 25.
The person responsible for the protection of personal information is our Privacy Officer, reachable through our contact form.
2. Information we collect
Property details you enter
When you use the calculator you enter an address and details about a property: its size, type, age, features and condition, and, if you answer the detailed questions, items such as the state of its systems. We use these to produce your estimate and we keep them with your estimate.
About you
We ask whether you are a buyer or a seller and, optionally, your timing and the price you have in mind. If you choose the accurate estimate, we also ask for your name and email address, and optionally your phone number, before showing the result, and we ask you to confirm that you accept this policy and our Terms of Use. We keep this information together with your answers, along with a record of when you accepted.
Technical information
Like most websites, we and our service providers automatically receive your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited and the date and time of your visit. We use this to operate and secure the Site, to prevent abuse (for example by limiting the number of estimates per visitor) and to understand how the Site is used.
3. How we use information
- To produce the estimates you request and show them to you.
- To understand who uses the Site and to improve our estimates and the Site.
- To respond to your messages.
- To show advertising that helps keep the Site free (see section 5).
- To operate, secure and protect the Site, and to meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Sharing information
We share personal information only:
- with service providers that help us run the Site, such as providers of hosting, security, data storage, email, advertising services, who may use it only to provide those services to us;
- when the law, a court or a public authority requires it;
- in connection with a sale, merger or transfer of our business, in which case the new owner must continue to protect it under this policy;
- with your consent.
Some service providers process information on servers outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessed by courts and authorities under local law.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies so the Site works and to show advertising, which may be based on your visits to this and other websites.
The first time you visit, a banner asks for your choice. Essential storage, which lets the Site work and remember your choice, is always on. Advertising cookies are used only if you choose "Accept all". If you choose "Reject non-essential", we do not load them. Your choice is stored in your browser, and you can change it at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the calculator still works if you do. You can also opt out of interest-based advertising through industry tools such as youradchoices.ca.
6. Where our estimates come from
Estimates are calculated from public data, including Statistics Canada's Canadian Housing Statistics Programme and open municipal data from the City of Montréal, combined with market price indices and aggregated market statistics. These describe areas and types of property, not individual people. We do not use your personal information to identify you in them. Estimates are for reference only and are not appraisals.
7. How long we keep information
We keep your contact details and answers for up to 24 months after you last use the Site, or until you ask us to delete them, whichever comes first. After that we delete them or keep them only in a form that no longer identifies you. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security and then deleted.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limits on who can access stored data. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the relevant authority as the law requires.
9. Your rights
You may ask us at any time to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and how we use it;
- correct information that is inaccurate;
- delete your information or withdraw your consent, subject to legal limits;
- if you live in Québec, give you your information in a structured, commonly used format.
Send your request through our contact form, choosing the topic "Privacy request". We may ask you to confirm your identity. We will answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or, in Québec, the Commission d'accès à l'information (cai.gouv.qc.ca).
10. Children
The Site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a significant change to how we use personal information, we will tell you on the Site.
12. Contact us
All enquiries, including privacy requests, must be sent through our contact form. We do not handle requests by other means.
